Red carpet makeup strikes a balance because celebrities need to feel confident during interviews and fan interactions, while also looking stunning in event photos. To help you avoid a collection of unflattering pictures, I’m sharing my top makeup tips for looking fabulous in photos.
Skin is key for photo-ready makeup. While natural, radiant skin is ideal in real life, matte skin often photographs better. Start with a good skincare routine to ensure a healthy, hydrated base. Mix a drop of highlighter with your foundation for a luminous finish, and add a touch of contour and cheek color for definition. If you anticipate taking lots of photos, use translucent powder to reduce shine and achieve a matte look that photographs well. Highlight your cheekbones and browbones to complete the look.
When it comes to eyes, remember two rules for photo-ready makeup. Curl your lashes before applying waterproof mascara in two coats for a long-lasting, defined look. For lips that stay flawless all night, apply a lip liner all over before applying your lipstick. A glossy finish works great for statement lips in photos.
